San Domenico: fresh fruit and vegetables

Close to the city’s main square is found the charming San Domenico cloister, where every morning you can visit the Mercato delle Erbe, the fruit and vegetable market.
This is the ideal place for buying not just fresh fruit and vegetables, but also freshly-picked beautifully-scented flowers. The best time to go is early in the morning, as the goods soon sell out. About twenty market traders including small farmers and retailers set up their stalls here and will be happy to offer you their excellent produce and their friendly, courteous service.

The cloister of the former San Domenico convent dates from 1200, and documents record its use as a market since 1861. The roof and structure have recently been renovated.
The market covers an area of about 1300 squre metres, and the main entrance is in Via Branca. It has always played a major role in the life of the citizens of Pesaro, serving not just as a market but also as a meeting place.
